Olive Oil Compound Can Kill Cancer Cells In 30 Minutes

According to a study published by the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers in the journal Molecular and Cellular Oncology, a team of researchers has discovered that a simple compound in olive oil is capable of killing cancer cells within 30 minutes to an hour, without harming healthy cells.

The compound in question is oleocanthal, which has been previously identified as an ‘anti-cancer’ agent, but the extent of its ability to fight carcinogenic cells was practically unknown. There are several other studies on other benefits of the compound, which include its potential effects on:

  • Inflammation
  • Tumor suppression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Age-related disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease

However, this new study found that this compound can truly kill cancer cells in under an hour.

The study found that cancer cells that were exposed to oleocanthal were dying in a matter of 30 to 60 minutes, because of the way in which oleocanthal uses the enzymes of the cancer cells.

The compound wreaks absolute havoc on the infected cells by puncturing the insides of the cancer cells where the cell ‘waste’ is held.

It is expected that mega pharmaceutical companies will try to swoop in to patent pharmaceutical technologies that mimic the behaviours of oleocanthal (with a list of side effects and reduced effectiveness), but you can start experiencing the benefits of this olive oil compound by yourself just by picking up some high quality organic olive oil at your local grocery store.
