How to Use Onion as a Natural Remedy

Onion is one of the oldest vegetables and at the same time it is a medicinal plant. Besides its application in diets, it is also used as treatment by people around the world. As there are many medical applications of onions, we decided to choose a few trusted people’s recipes that you can try for a variety of ailments.

Stagnant urine can be treated by cooking one chopped onion, with a handful of chopped parsley and stalks of celery in 1 liters of water. Cook the ingredients for 10-15 minutes. This liquid is supposed to be drank lukewarm, several times a day in small cups. The treatment lasts until your problems are gone.

There’s an old folk saying: If a man eats a sizeable onion with black bread for 40 days on an empty stomach, he will feel reborn. It soothes coughing, pain, heavy stools, body sores, paleness, fatigue, sluggishness, lung diseases and other weaknesses and problems.

Dropsy is treated by taking a tablespoon of pure juice of onion three times a day. It is necessary to use this treatment for a longer period of time.

For womb pain, finely chop one onion and cook it in half a liter of milk for 10 minutes. Drink it warm, one half in the morning and the other half in the evening. Drink this until your womb pain disappears.

Put half a kilogram of finely chopped onions in one liter of water with half a kilogram sugar and cook for 3 hours. When the mixture has cooled, add 3 large tablespoons of honey, mix well and store in glass bottles. Add one tablespoon of this potion in half a glass of lukewarm water several times a day and drink it. This helps in curing the tonsils, lungs, cough, hoarseness, and when you have difficulty breathing and problems with colds and flu.

Dry cough is treated by mixing roasted chopped onion with goat milk and honey (in equal parts). Take one tea spoon every hour during the day until the cough is gone.

Raw onion is recommended to breastfeeding mothers because it increases the quality and quantity of their milk.

For coronary disease, thrombosis, clogged arteries and blood clotting, it is recommended to eat one roasted onion baked in the oven at low heat. Roast it with a few drops of olive oil and eat it at lunch and dinner for a longer period of time.

Tradition has it that onion can be used for numerous ailments and weaknesses of the organism by chopping two onions in slices and putting them in socks which are worn during the night. Wash the feet with cold water in the morning. The procedure is repeated whenever possible until the person feels stronger.

Onions can also be used to strengthen the hair: put two chopped onions in half a liter of strong brandy. Let it sit for two weeks, and then strain it. Massage your scalp with it before going to bed.

Onion juice is used to treat bites and stings from insects, such as bees, wasps and spiders. Smear the affected area with freshly squeezed onion juice, especially in the first few hours after the bite.
