Hand Exercise in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is numbness, tingling, weakness, and other problems in your hand because of pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. This condition usually affects people who do the same movements on daily basis. People whose job includes working on a computer, should buy a bigger mouse in order to reduce the pressure.

Hand Exercise in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Hand Exercises
  1. Press your hands together and keep the elbows in the same line as the shoulders. Keep the fingers clenched and separate your hands. Make sure you keep your fingers merged. Return both hands in the original position. Repeat 10 times.
  2. Rotate the wrists in circles, both clockwise and counterclockwise. Do 20 rotations.
  3. Raise the hand above your head and let it fall free. Repeat 20 times.
  4. Rotate the thumbs both clockwise and counterclockwise. Repeat 10 times.
  5. Hold your hands in tight fists for couple of seconds. Then release the hands and spread the fingers. Repeat 10 times.

These exercises will reduce any swellings, improve your circulation and will keep both fingers and joints flexible. By doing these exercises you will prevent numbness and even severe pain in the neck, arms and the hands.

It is recommended to repeat these exercises several times on daily basis, especially after any physical activity. In addition, try to do exercises that involve your arms more often. You can perform the above listed exercises while working on your computer as well.
