Doctors Are Urging You To Stop Feeding Your Children Hot Dogs – Here’s Why

Doctors are sending alarming massage to the parents: Stop feeding your kids hot dogs!

One thing is for sure the most consumed food in America is hot dog. When I think about my childhood I remember eating hot dogs on every holiday.  There was no celebration like the 4th of July without this food.  About 155 million wieners are consumed every fourth of July nation-wide, for which we can all agree is too much.

In the latest researches was found out that kids who consume more than a dozen hot dogs in a period of one month are nine times more likely to develop childhood leukemia.

Besides this they also came to conclusion that mother who consume hot dogs in pregnancy directly increase their child’s likeliness of developing brain tumors later on in life.

You are probably wondering what is that which makes them so harmful. The answer is simple – nitrite additives.

Nitrates are part of hot dogs and they are added in order to combat botulism.  While the hot dogs are cooked, nitrates combine with amines that are naturally present in the meat to form N-nitroso, which is a seriously carcinogenic compound.

If you and your child really enjoy hot dogs and you can`t stop consuming them, then at least look for a nitrate-free meats.

You can also ask your local school board to provide nitrite-free hot dogs since that is the place where your child consumes hot dogs often.
