A Recipe For Turmeric Juice: A Powerful Healing Beverage

Turmeric or the herb with most healing properties is used for preparation of numerous remedies for treatment of different kinds of ailments.

Some of its benefits are that it is good for bones and joints, has anti-inflammatory properties, detoxifies the liver, cleanses the kidney, improves the metabolism, heals and alleviates conditions of depression, psoriasis, damaged skin, arthritis and more.

All these benefits are the reason why it is inevitable ingredient in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine.

The following is what you will need if you decide to start consuming turmeric and improve your health:

  • 5-7 tamarind
  • 2 lemons
  • Water
  • 5-7 inches turmeric
  • raw honey
  • strainer
  • blender
  • bowl
  • mason jar(s) or other glass jar with lid

Instructions how to prepare the powerful healing beverage:

1. Start by peeling the turmeric. By doing this your fingers will probably get yellow but you don’t have to worry because it gets out easily. In case your board gets yellow all you have to do is soak it in water for 5 minutes and it will get out too.

2. After that open the tamarind, get all the inner roots out of it and keep only the inner fruit for further use.

3. Take some pot and fill it with water. Put the previously peeled turmeric in it and set it on fire. Boil the water for 20 minutes or until the water gets vibrant marigold color.

4. While you are boiling the turmeric water pour 1 inch of water in a pan together with peeled tamarind. Stir it with a wooden utensil, mix it in with the water so it can melt and dissolve into a jam like texture.

In case the mixture looks dry add some more water. By this time, you should be able to see the little seeds coming out. When the texture looks soft, turn heat off and let it cool down.

5. Now you should go back to the turmeric water. Add a little cold water to it in order to cool it down. Pour the water in blender together with the turmeric.

The reason why we boiled the turmeric is to make it softer and easier for blending. Blend it until it gets a color of extra fiery marigold.

6. Pour the substance from the pan on strainer that is placed on top of a small bowl to catch the tamarind. Swish the jam like substance around in the strainer with the wooden utensil– we only want to use the soft bits of the fruit.

7. Pour the tamarind from the strainer in a blender and blend it together with the turmeric water.

8. We are reaching the end. Squeeze the lemons in the blender. Take the blender and pour your yummy juice into your mason jar. Add honey, close with lid and shake it up to mix.

That is all. You have your mixture prepared. Store it in the fridge and keep it up to 3-4 days and drink it every day.
