6 Ways to Use Egg Shells

Eggs are one of the most used ingredients, but there are also benefits to using egg shells. Namely, they are great friends of the skin and pets.

  1. Natural pesticide

Crumble some egg shells and place them around your plants in the garden. They will protect the plants against attacks of small pests like snails and lizards. Furthermore, the shell itself acts as natural pesticide. The pests are repelled by the smell of eggs and it will prevent them from coming in your garden.

  1. Home doctor

There’s a thin membrane located inside the shell and it can be used as a remedy, protection and prevention when it comes to overgrown nails.

  1. The cheapest plumber

You can remove dirt and grease from your pipes using egg shells. Crush several egg shells and put them into the drain and let the water run. The running water will help the shells pass through the pipes.

  1. Kitchen tool

You can use an egg shell as a mold to make chocolate eggs. Take one egg and make a hole on its bottom with half a centimeter in diameter. Then gently shake the egg until its content is out. Wash it with lukewarm water, dry it and it is ready to be used as a mold.

  1. Scale cleaner

Put some egg shells in a kitchen towel and crush them using a wooden pestle. Then mix the crushed egg shells with apple cider vinegar and use the resulting mixture as an abrasive to remove scale off of the sink, thermos etc.

  1. Remedy against itching

Put egg shells in a jar of apple cider vinegar and leave it for 2 days. The shells will soften and the jar’s content will become a homogeneous mixture. Use this mixture against itching and skin irritation.
