How to Control Uric Acid Levels

Hyperuricemia is an excess of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid passes throughout the liver and enters your bloodstream. There are two reasons which might cause hyperuricemia: first the body products more uric acid than it is able to excrete or the kidneys can`t get rid of the uric acid.

Hyperuricemia can cause some other medical problems. According to some studies it might lead to gouty arthritis, kidney stones, renal failure and hypertension.

The normal uric acid level might be different depending of the laboratories, but the average values in most of them of 3.4-7.0mg/dL for men and 2.4-6.0 mg/dl for women.

The food that you consume is of huge importance for the increased levels of uric acid. Food reach with purines should be avoided because the body brakes down purines in uric acid. Some other factors or causers of high uric acid levels are: renal insufficiency, underactive thyroid, genetics, endocrine or metabolic conditions like diabetes and excessive consumption of alcohol.

Two things that you can do to decrease the uric acid level are to start exercising regularly, and change your diet (fasting is recommended for people with this problem), but with this you will decrease the levels only temporary.
